Running Zork On The Steam Controller
tech
A developer has found a way to run the classic text adventure game Zork directly on the Steam Controller. As Hackaday tells it, Owen Feldman achieved this by writing a Rust program to emulate the Intel 8080 CPU and CP/M operating system on the device's internal processor. Because the controller lacks a screen and keyboard, the game's input and output are streamed over USB. Feldman used an undocumented Valve tool to flash the custom firmware, a process that resulted in a few bricked controllers before the project succeeded.
