The trick: let the electric motor handle acceleration and braking—the fuel-hungry moments where gas engines are least efficient. With that load offloaded, the combustion engine runs only in its optimal RPM band, where it burns fuel cleanly. For boats, that efficiency gain means better range and lower fuel costs.
