Australia and Vanuatu sign deal barring foreign military base on Pacific island

Australia and Vanuatu have signed an agreement preventing foreign military bases from being established on the Pacific island. According to Euronews, the deal comes amid growing Chinese influence in the region. China established policing ties with Vanuatu in twenty twenty-three and has since provided the country's police force with drones, patrol boats, and vehicles.
