The Conversation (US) reports that a University of Denver professor is pushing back against student reliance on AI by teaching what it can't do. In a Southern Gothic literature class, he asked students to have AI analyze a scene from Carson McCullers' novel, and the chatbot produced a sterile, clinical response that missed the emotional weight and even mistook a bus for a train. The professor argues that AI lacks embodied experience and empathy, and he wants students to embrace human imagination and vulnerability instead of outsourcing their thinking.
