Weather tracker: North-west US hit by snow ahead of eastern heatwave

science

While the eastern United States braces for extreme heat this week, with New York and Washington DC potentially reaching forty degrees Celsius by Friday, the northwest is experiencing something entirely different. A strong cold front swept in from the North Pacific over the weekend, bringing unseasonable snow to parts of the western US. Temperatures from the Canadian border to California have dropped five to ten degrees Celsius below normal since Friday, with some northern areas plunging more than ten degrees below their typical readings for this time of year. According to The Guardian, this stark temperature divide is expected to persist throughout the coming week.
