The Victorian Liberals have proposed splitting the current court of appeal into two separate entities, one for civil matters and one for criminal cases. As The Guardian reports, opposition leader Jess Wilson says the plan would include appointing additional judges specializing in criminal law to ensure sentencing aligns with community expectations. This new criminal court would establish case law to help determine appropriate consequences for criminal actions.
