Jazz à Vienne celebrates late Miles Davis for 45th edition
entertainment
The Jazz à Vienne festival in southeastern France is celebrating two things this year: its own forty-fifth edition and one hundred years since Miles Davis's birth. The American jazz legend performed there four times, leaving a lasting cultural imprint. This year's lineup features Jon Batiste, Marcus Miller, Buena Vista Social Club, and Jeff Mills. Among the festival's creative highlights: Cameroonian band Akutuk performing in a swimming pool to honor their ancestral ties to water, and New Orleans trumpeter James Andrews turning the town into an improvised parade. According to France 24, the event balances reverence for Davis's influence with the experimental energy of modern jazz.
