Supreme court rules Trump can fire regulators but finds against him in Fed governor and E Jean Carroll cases – live
politics
The Supreme Court issued mixed rulings on the Trump administration today. The justices expanded presidential power to fire federal regulators—a win for the White House. But they found the firing of Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook unconstitutional, and declined to overturn a five million dollar E Jean Carroll sexual abuse verdict against Trump. The ruling comes after major immigration victories last week, when the court allowed asylum restrictions and the removal of temporary protected status for hundreds of thousands of migrants. According to The Guardian, the court still has decisions pending on birthright citizenship and mail-in ballot deadlines.
