Turning Corroded, Bug-Loving WiiMotes into a Working One

tech

Hackaday reports on a trio of corroded, bug-infested WiiMote controllers pulled from an e-waste box, with the goal of assembling at least one working unit. The PCBs spanned multiple hardware revisions, and battery corrosion had even knocked an IC off one board. After neutralizing the acid and deep-cleaning the parts, one functional controller was successfully put together. The remaining two are still in question, but the shells could be repurposed for a custom OpenMote board with an ESP32-S3 for non-Wii household uses.
