Amiga-Inspired AROS Goes Bare Metal on Raspberry Pi
tech
Hackaday reports that the Amiga-inspired AROS Research Operating System has been ported to run bare-metal on the Raspberry Pi, in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Previously, running AROS on a Pi meant virtualizing it inside Linux. The port is still early days, currently targeting the Raspberry Pi 3, with forum discussions already covering the Pi 4 and Zero 2 W. Some software has been recompiled for ARM, but the library isn't as full-featured as the x86 build — a gap that's expected to close over time.
