Due to need for 'absolute success,' China delays critical Moon launch to 2027

science

Ars Technica reports that China's manned space agency has postponed its Chang'e 7 lunar exploration mission to the year twenty twenty seven. The agency said the decision follows a comprehensive assessment and a commitment to proceed prudently and ensure absolute success. The mission, which would have launched on a Long March five rocket from the Wenchang Space Launch Site and includes an orbiter, lander, rover and a mini‑hopper aimed at the Moon's south pole, will not fly during this year's launch window. No further explanation for the delay was provided.
