The dollar is stable and exports are booming. Why is Milei’s popularity in the toilet?

politics

Argentine President Javier Milei is seeing a sharp decline in public approval despite achieving several macroeconomic goals, including lower inflation and record exports. Per the Buenos Aires Herald, recent polls show that between fifty-three and sixty-one percent of respondents now hold a negative view of the president. Analysts suggest the slump is driven by a combination of financial hardship for ordinary citizens and a corruption scandal involving former Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni, who resigned in June following allegations of illicit enrichment. The scandal has particularly damaged Milei's image by contrasting a lavish lifestyle with the austerity measures the president has imposed on the public.
