Fazl blames lack of joint opposition for unchecked legislation

Dawn reports that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has blamed the lack of a united opposition for unchecked legislation in Pakistan. Speaking at a party workers' convention in Peshawar, he said recent laws on armed forces command were passed hastily without debate, and concentrated powers that previously belonged to the federal government in a single office. He also criticized the push for new provinces as a tactic to reverse the National Finance Commission Award and capture provincial mineral resources. Fazlur Rehman urged opposition parties to coordinate inside parliament to prevent further such actions.
