What Lake Bonneville Left Behind

science

NASA scientists are using the remnants of the ancient Lake Bonneville in Utah to prepare for a mission to Venus. As NASA Science reports, the agency's DAVINCI probe team recently field-tested cameras and instruments at Crater Island, a site they call "Venus on Earth," to ensure they can accurately map the geology of the distant planet. The team successfully created three-dimensional maps of the rugged terrain using a helicopter-suspended camera system, providing confidence for the probe's eventual descent into the atmosphere of Venus.
