"I would be worried if I were her": Democrats fear another loss to the left in Colorado
politics
According to Axios, Colorado House Democrat Diana DeGette is facing one of the most serious primary challenges of her twenty-nine-year career. Her opponent is Melat Kiros, a twenty-nine-year-old attorney and Democratic Socialists of America member backed by Bernie Sanders and other left-wing groups. Despite being a Medicare-for-All cosponsor, DeGette has been criticized by the left for accepting corporate PAC money and her voting record on Israel. The primary is Tuesday. Privately, multiple House Democrats are worried about DeGette's odds — one called the race a potential sign that last week's anti-establishment victories in New York are becoming the norm rather than the exception. If Kiros wins, she would join a growing bloc of left-wing primary victors demanding concessions from party leadership on corporate donations, healthcare, and foreign policy.
