San Francisco archdiocese to pay $395m to settle over 500 child sexual abuse claims

The San Francisco archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church has agreed to pay three hundred ninety-five million dollars to settle more than five hundred lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse by church officials, according to The Guardian. As part of the settlement, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone will write an apology letter to each survivor. The archdiocese will also implement new child protection measures and reforms.
