Smithsonian to put Latino museum in existing building, bypassing Congress approval

The Smithsonian Institution approved on Monday the conversion of one of its buildings into the National Museum of the American Latino, according to The Straits Times. The move lets the museum bypass congressional approval for a new site. The Smithsonian, the world's largest museum and research complex, will house the new museum in an existing building rather than a newly constructed one.
