Voyager Signal Strength Math Problems
science
NASA is highlighting the evolution of deep space communication through a new set of educational math problems focused on the Voyager mission. As reported by NASA Science, the agency is moving toward Deep Space Optical Communications, a technology that uses near-infrared light instead of traditional radio waves to transmit data more efficiently. While the twin Voyager spacecraft rely on a twelve point five watt transmitter, the newer optical systems use a four watt laser to create a significantly tighter signal beam.
