NASA, Caltech Partner on Two Earth Science Missions

science

NASA Science reports that NASA and Caltech have signed agreements to partner on two Earth science missions, the OCO-2 and OCO-3. The non-reimbursable Space Act Agreements, signed on August fourteenth, put Caltech in charge of operating the missions and their data systems for up to five years, while NASA retains ownership. Both satellites have far outlasted their original missions, continuing to collect data on atmospheric carbon. The partnership aims to create new data products and strengthen national scientific capabilities, NASA Science says.
