Math Problem: Where is Voyager 1?

science

NASA Science reports a new math problem set for students in grades six through twelve and beyond. The problem centers on Voyager 1, which in mid-November twenty twenty-six will pass beyond one light-day from Earth — meaning radio signals will take about twenty-four hours to reach the spacecraft. Students are asked to work out just how far one light-day is, using skills that fit into a classroom curriculum. The exercise is part of NASA's heliophysics education resources.
