Per SaaStr, the classic rule for how long a venture round should last is 18 to 24 months, but that's not the real answer. The actual goal is to stretch the cash until you have the traction and metrics that convince investors to write a much larger check. The column advises founders to ask existing investors and other VCs what it takes to be fundable, then make the money last until they get there.
