Michigan’s Les Cheneaux Islands

NASA Science is highlighting a new satellite image of the Les Cheneaux Islands, a group of thirty-six glacially shaped islands near Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Captured by the Landsat nine satellite, the imagery reveals elongated landforms known as drumlins, which were carved by retreating glaciers roughly ten thousand years ago. These unique formations create sheltered channels that support a local maritime culture of fishing and boat building.
