Suspected saltwater crocodile takes dog at unexpected outback location

A saltwater crocodile is suspected of taking a dog at the Flinders River in outback Queensland—hundreds of kilometres inland from where these reptiles typically roam. According to Richmond Shire Mayor John Wharton, the incident marks an unusual encroachment of the apex predator far from its coastal habitat.
