The Aerospace Corp’s Disksat Gains Commercial Traction

The Aerospace Corporation is seeing commercial interest in Disksat, a satellite design that replaces the traditional boxy shape with a thin, disk-like form. Per Payload Space, the company recently launched four of these satellites on a Rocket Lab Electron rocket to test their power and signal capabilities. The design allows satellites to be stacked efficiently inside rockets and reduces orbital drag, which helps them stay in very low Earth orbit for longer. Three companies have already signed on to license the architecture, including the Australian startup Neumann Space, which plans to integrate its own propulsion system into the design by twenty twenty-eight.
