Cow gut enzyme could help target bacterial biofilms and antibiotic-resistant infections
health
Researchers are looking into a cow gut enzyme to help combat antibiotic-resistant infections and bacterial biofilms. Phys.org reports that the bacterium Acinetobacter baumannii is a critical-priority pathogen that often forms biofilms on medical surfaces and wounds, which can delay healing. Because many current treatments are ineffective against these biofilms, there is an urgent need for new wound management strategies.
