Short Time Outs

In a post on LessWrong, one parent argues that the standard time-out rule of one minute per year of age is overkill. He says a single minute works fine for his three kids, as long as the punishment is predictable and immediate. He also notes that after a time-out, the child still has to complete the original task, and that simple separation often resolves conflicts.
