NASA Sets Spacewalk for Station Maintenance, Live Coverage Planned

NASA News reports that two astronauts will step outside the International Space Station on Tuesday, September first, for a spacewalk to replace a navigational aid and perform maintenance. NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot will swap out a retroreflector on the Harmony module, install jumper cables, prepare the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer's radiator, and replace a high-definition camera. The spacewalk is expected to last about six and a half hours, with live coverage starting at seven a.m. Eastern. This will be Meir's seventh spacewalk and Adenot's third, and it marks the 284th spacewalk supporting station assembly and upkeep. Meir will move into third place all-time for spacewalks by a woman at NASA, behind Peggy Whitson and Suni Williams.
