Some Galápagos 'yellow' sea turtles remain homebodies, surprising scientists

science

Sea turtles are renowned for epic ocean migrations. Guided by Earth's magnetic field, ocean currents, and the sun, they crisscross the seas in search of food, returning to their birth region every few years to breed. But Phys.org reports that scientists have discovered a population of Galápagos sea turtles that appear to be homebodies, staying put instead of wandering the seas. The finding surprised researchers who expected these turtles to follow the typical migratory pattern.
