Starry Chandelier Cluster

science

NASA has released an image of NGC 6723, a globular cluster in the constellation Sagittarius, popularly known as the Chandelier Cluster. The name is apt: thousands of ancient stars cluster together, sparkling across the sky twenty-seven thousand light-years away. These are among the oldest stars in our galaxy.
