GOES Spacecraft 3d Model

NASA Science reports that an interactive three‑dimensional model of the GOES weather satellite series is now online, allowing users to click, drag, and zoom the spacecraft in their browser. The view highlights labelled instruments like the Advanced Baseline Imager and the Geostationary Lightning Mapper that appear on all GOES‑R, S, T and U satellites, and it flags the Compact Coronagraph found only on the upcoming GOES‑U platform. The model, a six point one megabyte file, can be examined directly on NASA’s site, giving the public a closer look at the geostationary observatory that NOAA uses for continuous weather monitoring.
