Action! NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory begins capturing the greatest cosmic movie ever made

Yesterday, the Vera C. Rubin Observatory—a joint project of the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy—began its primary observational mission. The facility will conduct repeated wide-field surveys of the entire sky, detecting transient astronomical events and discovering new objects invisible to earlier telescopes.
