Anthropic's new hardware standard lets AI agents control the physical world

Ars Technica reports that Anthropic, an AI safety‑focused company founded by former OpenAI researchers, has unveiled a Model Hardware Standard—a set of drivers that let AI agents directly interface with and control physical devices. The research preview is being offered to scientists to replace custom software integrations, potentially shrinking experiment setup from weeks to minutes. Anthropic says the standard could eventually enable AI to run any scientific experiment in the world.
