Satellite data indicates that a twenty twenty-six El Niño event continued to strengthen in early June. As NASA Science tells it, observations from the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich satellite showed warmer, higher water moving from the western Pacific toward the coasts of Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. This movement of water is a primary precursor to the El Niño phenomenon.
