The Guardian reports that three reporters from Stars and Stripes have filed a federal lawsuit against the Department of Defense, alleging they were fired after covering the USS Abraham Lincoln. Their complaint says the dismissals violated their First Amendment rights to free speech. Stars and Stripes describes itself as the U.S. military’s independent news source dating back to the Civil War. The case will now proceed in court.
