'Putin doesn't care about Russians' quality of life', expert says as pessimism reaches 20-yr high

According to a new Gallup survey, Russians are more pessimistic about their economy than they've been in twenty years, with a majority reporting that living standards are declining. Konstantin Sonin, a policy expert at the University of Chicago, suggests this mounting discontent poses little threat to Vladimir Putin — who, Sonin argues, doesn't particularly care about Russians' quality of life.
