President Honors NASA’s Artemis II Crew with Highest US Space Award
science
NASA News reports that President Trump presented the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the four Artemis II astronauts during a ceremony at Johnson Space Center in Houston. The crew — Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen — were recognized for their record-setting lunar flyby mission, which launched in April and splashed down safely after traveling two hundred fifty-two thousand seven hundred fifty-six miles from Earth, farther than any humans before. This is the first time the medal has been awarded since 2023. The mission paved the way for future Artemis flights, including a planned return to the lunar surface in 2028.
