For decades, economic interdependence between nations was seen as a path to peace—the idea being that shared prosperity creates shared interest in stability. But according to economics professor Danny Quah from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, this theory may be incomplete. Economic interdependence, he argues, doesn't reliably bring peace. Instead, it can fuel resentment between trading partners.
