politics
The Guardian reports that US President Donald Trump announced on Friday a new oil agreement with Venezuela, saying the United States would gain majority control of more than sixty‑five billion barrels of proven reserves. He said the deal was secured with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, interim President Delcy Rodriguez and private businesses, and that it would come at no cost to the American taxpayer. The announcement was posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, and Venezuela is a major oil‑producing nation in South America.
