Apple is about to make Hide My Email useless
tech
Apple's latest change to its Hide My Email privacy service may actually undermine the very privacy it was designed to protect. According to Arseniy Shestakov's analysis, Apple announced that email aliases from both Sign in with Apple and Hide My Email will now be issued on a distinctive '@private.icloud.com' domain. Previously, these aliases appeared as regular '@icloud.com' addresses, making them indistinguishable from regular email accounts—and expensive for services to block. Now, websites can simply blacklist the entire @private.icloud.com domain, effectively banning all Apple's privacy aliases at once. This mirrors how temporary email services are already treated online. If you have iCloud+, there's still time to generate traditional '@icloud.com' aliases before the change rolls out.
