Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the suspension and criminal prosecution of eight officials, including the Pims executive director, over the fire that killed fourteen infants, Dawn reports. The move follows an interim report from his inquiry committee, presented Saturday at a high-level meeting in Lahore; the National Institutes of Health's CEO has been named acting executive director in the meantime. The prime minister also approved a Sitara-i-Khidmat award and one million rupees for nurse Razia Noreen, credited with saving one of the fifteen newborns in the ward. Per Dawn, the government has ordered the inquiry committee's preliminary findings released publicly as the investigation continues.
