At least 37 killed after Russian strike hits an ammunition warehouse near Kyiv, triggering massive explosions. Many of the victims were residents of a nearby care home.

A Russian strike on an ammunition warehouse in the village of Myla, near Kyiv, has killed at least thirty-seven people, Meduza reports. The blast tore through nearby homes and a care home for elderly and disabled residents, where twenty of the victims died; about fifty residential buildings were damaged in all. Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, say the ammunition should never have been stored so close to residential areas, and a criminal investigation into official negligence has been opened. The Kyiv region has declared August thirtieth a day of mourning for those killed.
