Al Jazeera English reports that Iceland held a tightly contested referendum on whether to restart negotiations to join the European Union. Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir cast her vote on Saturday as the vote unfolded. The decision will determine Iceland’s future relationship with the EU.
