Roman Telescope Begins Quest to Reveal Evolving Universe

science

Eos reports that NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has launched, beginning its mission to probe the universe's biggest mysteries. The telescope, named after the first woman to serve as a NASA executive, has a field of view one hundred times larger than Hubble's and is expected to study more than a billion galaxies. Scientists hope it will help explain dark energy and dark matter, which together make up most of the universe, and it could discover up to two hundred thousand exoplanets. The first science images are expected in early twenty twenty-seven.
