Tides can be mapped much more locally using a new method based on satellite images

Phys.org reports a new satellite‑based method can map tides much more locally than traditional approaches. The technique shows that tide heights can vary by up to one meter, about three feet, over just a few kilometers of coastline. More precise local tide charts could help mariners and coastal planners.
