Lake Ontario now called Lake America on Google Maps for U.S. users after Trump ordered name change

Google Maps has begun labeling Lake Ontario as Lake America for users in the United States, a shift that follows a request from former President Donald Trump. PBS NewsHour notes that Google said the change aligns with its practice of using names from the U.S. Geographic Names Information System. The renaming will only appear on the U.S. version of the service.
