world

A flash flood and mudslide that struck Nepal's Rasuwa district near the Chinese border on Wednesday has left a death toll of seven hundred sixty-eight as of Sunday, Scroll.in reports. Nearly three thousand people remain missing, including two hundred seventy-five Indian nationals. India's Ministry of External Affairs said close to one hundred fifty Indians have been rescued, with four hundred three more crossing safely into Nepal from China and another five hundred confirmed safe on the Chinese side. Indian tunnel-rescue and forensic teams are working with Nepal's army at hydropower sites in Chilime and Langtang, where more than a hundred workers are believed trapped, and DNA analysis has begun to identify recovered remains.
