The Australian government is coordinating with Russian officials to secure the release of Australian citizen Oscar Jenkins. Assistant minister for foreign affairs Matt Thistlethwaite told ABC News Breakfast that while officials are negotiating to ensure Jenkins returns home safely, he would not say if a prisoner swap is being considered. Per The Guardian, the government maintains it will abide by international laws throughout the process.
