Scientists Made a Car Paint So Black It Looks Like a Hole in Reality

science

Researchers at Singapore-based Nipsea have developed an ultra-black coating that absorbs an average of 99.9 percent of visible light wavelengths, according to io9. The coating is so effective at absorbing light that painted surfaces appear to vanish entirely—creating the optical illusion of looking into a void. While initial applications may be limited to optical instruments and experimental displays, the technology represents a significant breakthrough in materials science.
