The Guardian reports that the Australian government is working with Russian officials to secure the release of Australian Oscar Jenkins. Assistant minister for foreign affairs Matt Thistlethwaite told ABC news breakfast that officials are negotiating as best they can, but declined to say whether a prisoner swap is on the table. He said Australian officials on the ground will work with their counterparts, hoping Jenkins returns safely.
