Up to 150 former WH Smith stores to close as high court approves restructure
business
According to The Guardian, up to one hundred fifty former WH Smith stores are set to close after a high court approved a major restructuring plan. The retailer, which now operates under the name TG Jones following a private equity takeover by Modella Capital last year, employs about five thousand staff across four hundred fifty locations. The restructure includes writing off debts owed to suppliers and negotiating reduced rent with landlords — moves that could impact thousands of jobs.
